What make these shoes squeak?

There is a small air chamber in the heel of the shoe. When your child steps, the air is forced out thru the "squeaker" or reed. This causes great delight in your child and in turn will bring a smile to your face. Be sure to have a camera or video recorder the first time your child wears them!

Can I stop the squeak?

Yes!  The "squeak" can be removed, or you may just want to place a piece of tape over the hole. The more the "squeaker" is  removed, the looser it will fit in the shoe. Please visit the SAFETY page for important information on how to maintain shoes and you child's safety. Child's safety is the parents responsibility.

 Are these shoes worth getting?

Well, your child's reaction should be reason enough. Have that camera ready! These little shoes are well made and comfortable on little feet. The uppers are soft and supple and the soles are flexible, just as pediatricians recommend.

 My child "toe walks"...help!

Some therapists are using squeaker shoes to help encourage the child to walk "heel to toe". (The shoe dosen't squeak if the child walks only on their toes.)  If your child "toe walks" you may want to discuss this with your child's doctor.

 Good for the visually impaired?

Yes. These shoes may encourage the visually impaired baby to take their first steps. The sound feedback may give them more confidence to walk. The squeaky shoes are also good for the visually impaired parent as they help them to follow their child's movement.

What size should I get?

All shoe brands size their shoes differently.  The best way to determine the correct size is to measure the outersole of a currently fitting shoe.    Please see the size chart page.
